PEELER SET-UP

Follow the general instructions below to set up your machine and roll configuration. For complete instructions, refer to your manual.

General Set-Up

  • Confirm lubrication on all bearings
  • Confirm all utilities are connected and turned on
  • Ensure all parts are installed correctly
  • Close the discharge gate

Roll Set-Up

  • Install rolls in the following scheme. This view is from the discharge end. If you have a 6-roll set up, rolls 1 and 8 will be empty. Refer to the roll change video above to see how to install and uninstall rolls.

Roll Adjustments

  • Set roll speed to 250 RPM
  • Set bed depth to minimum outfeed gate number needed for folding action
  • Operate machine and evaluate peel removal
    • Too much removed - decrease roll speed and/or bed depth for a less aggressive setup
    • Too little removed – increase roll speed and/or bed depth for a more aggressive setup
  • Once the desired level is achieved, record setup

MAINTENANCE

Follow the general maintenance schedule below to keep your peeler running optimally.

Daily

  • Clean the peeling chamber, peeling rolls, and all areas of the machine to remove debris, disinfect, and sanitize. May be multiple times per day per operation schedule.
  • Check the condition of peeling rolls.
  • Check for clogged nozzles on the spray bar.
  • Check for line-up time (maximum number of shut-offs not to exceed three (3) times per hour with 85 - 90% line-up time).
  • Grease roller bearings at the discharge end of the machine with #2 food-grade grease.
  • For manual grease systems, grease every 8 hours and after every sanitation routine.
  • Grease bearings until grease expelled from the seal is visible.
  • If using auto lube systems:
    • Check auto lube reservoir for sufficient fill.
    • Inspect auto lube, grease lines, fittings, and bearing blocks for leaks.

Weekly

  • Check for loose or binding hardware.
  • Check bearings for excessive wear.

Monthly

  • Check/tighten set screws in bearings to 45-50 in.-lbs.
  • Inspect drive case bearings for excessive wear.
  • Check for frayed or misaligned belts and pulleys.
  • Adjust the drive belt if needed.

TROUBLESHOOTING TIPS

**Note: Some Troubleshooting information for machine options are described in the options pages. See Section 6.0 for equipment options.

Keep all hands, feet, loose clothing, and foreign objects out of machine while it is operating. Always turn OFF power and lockout machine when maintenance is required. All covers and shields should be properly closed, affixed, and in place prior to start-up. Only qualified personnel should perform maintenance tasks.
